Myth Buster: Composites Edition
Working in façades for 20+ years, I’ve heard almost every myth about composites. Some of my favorites?
❌ “GRC cracks easily”
❌ “FRP fades in sunlight”
❌ “Composites can’t match natural stone”
Here’s the truth
GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete) – When engineered and installed correctly, GRC is incredibly durable. Thin yet tough, it has been used worldwide for decades without “cracking up” under pressure.
FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic) – Modern UV-stable gelcoats and finishes ensure FRP holds its color and sheen for years, even in India’s toughest climates.
UHPC Composites – Far from being “second-best,” they now outperform many traditional materials in strength-to-weight ratio, flexibility, and sustainability.
At TheGlobalElephant, we’ve delivered GRC, FRP, and UHPC façades across major Indian cities—from Mumbai to Delhi, Bengaluru to Hyderabad. Each project is proof that composites are not just alternatives; they’re next-generation solutions.
